The Wellness Toolbox: Tool #1 – CUDDLES!

My life changed a couple decades ago, after I stopped running around trying to get an exact diagnosis for the debilitating chronic pain I was experiencing, and instead, started looking at how to amplify wellness in my life. Eventually, this approach became the cornerstone of the Dancing with Pain® method I developed, and additionally became the foundation of my approach to healing naturally from cancer.

A few weeks ago, I made a chart on a whiteboard, where I could see my wellness tools in one place, and check off each day which tools I had used. The chart was a way for me to remember the many tools always at my disposal, and to pat myself on the back for the ones I implemented each week. I […]

Turmeric Leek Therapy Soup

My cooking is like my music: There is always a story behind it. So as part of sharing the recipe for this soup, I’m going to share what led up to its creation.

Most notably, we lost an all-expenses-paid university gig, replete with a car service sent to pick us up at the airport and take us to our swanky lodgings at the Marriott. I had painstakingly lined up those gigs, along with media coverage locally, nationally and internationally, to help propel forward my band, Iraqis in Pajamas; and I was counting on the exposure to take us to the next […]

I have gotten several requests for recipes of dishes pictured in one of my previous posts, and pictured here again, above each recipe. I don’t actually do “recipes” per se – i just more or less chop, slice, and throw into a pot or bowl. But I have included a list of ingredients below, to get you started. For guidance on how to make your own artistic masterpieces out of these dishes, see my previous post on how to make a whole foods, plant-based diet work for you! All these ingredients are fresh, unless it’s indicated that they are spices.
