The Fixer
I used to lean into the vacuum
Compensate for the void with my presence
I guess it was too painful to feel the absence
Now I know that I need someone
Who fills up that space himself
And meets me at the edges
I will not be the fixer
I will not be the one who holds things together
So they don’t fall apart
I will not be the one to glue the pieces back
When they break
I will not be the fixer
I will allow you to be you
Limited in your capacity
Perhaps even destroying this relationship
In the wake of your self-sabotage or insanity
But I will not be the fixer
