You and I
Have made different choices
At each twist and turn in the road
You were destination-oriented
Leading you far away from
Where you wanted to be
Because you did not want
To do the work
At least without assurance
Of your arrival
I followed the thread of Truth
Valued that which was righteous
And made decisions accordingly
Risking absolutely everything
And because you now want
What I have
Despite your unwillingness to do
What I did
You seethe with jealousy
Scoff at the purity of my path
Project your own compromised sensibilities
Onto me
Act as if there must be some other reason
Some other explanation
Presume some fundamental difference
In our capacities
So that you can justify
Where you ended up
Perceive yourself as a victim of circumstance
Wallow in self-righteous fury
rather than question your choices
And change the course of your life
